- Strength of Women: Peace & Resilience
Community Relations Foundation Women (CRF Women)
The Strength of Women program is a community-driven initiative empowering women in Nairobi’s informal settlements to become frontline peacebuilders and civic educators. These communities face recurring risks including political incitement, gender-based violence (GBV), insecurity, and mental health challenges. CRF Women is implementing a multi-tiered intervention that goes beyond awareness. By training women at the Ward level in peacebuilding, civic education, and GBV response, the program creates a sustainable, grassroots peace infrastructure. Through partnerships with churches, schools, and the transport sector—plus dynamic peace caravans—the program addresses root causes of instability while promoting mental health awareness as a foundation for community safety. ⚠️ Background & Problem
- Low civic education → limited awareness of rights and access to county services
- Insecurity and GBV → reduced mobility and economic participation for women and girls
- Mental health strain → linked to domestic violence, substance abuse, and risky behavior (notably in the transport sector)
